Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024At 27 years old, he enrolled at National Theatre School of Denmark. He graduated in 1994. Alongside his part in the drama show telecast worldwide under the name The Killing, he subsequently played in two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a leading role in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as a blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the role of Russia's president on the American television show House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his part in Danish television drama Herrens Veje, which was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride in the Storm.In addition to his home country of Danish, Mikkelsen speaks fluent Swedish, German and English and has also mastered several accents. According to Mikkelsen's account his sources, he learned English from his brother listening to Monty Python recordings and watching the sketches of comedy.
