Zoe-perry
Perry was born in Chicago to the actors Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. On her role on the ABC sitcom Roseanne (in flashback) her mother played Jackie Harris in two of Perry's first television roles. Parents, however, did not want her to take on acting roles until she was an adult and was worried about the impact of stress. Perry admits that she was not at ease in the stage during high school However, she started acting as an opportunity to make new people during her time at Northwestern University after switching from Boston University. Perry, after graduating from Boston University, relocated to New York in search of TV roles. She landed small parts on shows such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. But, her home-sickness brought her back to California to find theater work. She was in 2013 on stage with The Other Place on Broadway together with her mom. In 2015 she performed alongside her father and Kevin McKidd in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Anna Christie at the Odyssey Theatre Ensemble in West Los Angeles. In 2016, Perry appeared on nine episodes on ABC's drama The Family. In 2017, she had a minor role on ABC's thriller about politics Scandal that starred her father. She was also cast in the CBS show The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon as a version younger than Mary Cooper, Sheldon Cooper's mom. She was able to be cast in the role despite her close familial connection to the character.
